Evi Nemeth (born June 7, 1940) was an engineer, author, and retired professor known as the matriarch of system administration, leading the creation of the definitive handbooks on UNIX and Linux system administration. She disappeared at sea in June or July 2013 while sailing across the Tasman Sea aboard the yacht Niña, and her status remains missing. Garth Snyder is a co-author who worked at NeXT and Sun, holding degrees in Engineering, Medicine, and Business Administration.
