Clement Moore

Clement Clarke Moore was an American professor, theologian, and poet best known for the Christmas poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas," commonly called "The Night Before Christmas." He was also a prominent landowner whose Chelsea estate helped shape the development of New York City.
