Francesco Mario Pagano

Francesco Mario Pagano was an Italian jurist, Enlightenment philosopher, and playwright, best known for his contributions to legal reform and his tragic play 'Gerusalemme distrutta'. A professor of law in Naples, he advocated for the abolition of torture and the death penalty, and he became a prominent figure in the Neapolitan Republic of 1799, for which he was executed.
