Ivan R. Schwab was an Emeritus Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California, Davis, renowned for his work in corneal services and his book 'Evolution's Witness: How Eyes Evolved.' He was a distinguished clinician and researcher who explored comparative ophthalmology, including the visual systems of mysid shrimp and sharks, and received the Ig Nobel Prize in 2006 for his insights on why woodpeckers do not get headaches.
