Kathryn Thornton

Kathryn Ryan Cordell Thornton is an American scientist and former NASA astronaut born in Montgomery, Alabama, who flew four Space Shuttle missions and logged over 975 hours in space, including 21 hours of spacewalks. She later served as a professor and associate dean at the University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Science before becoming professor emerita.
