Pietro Di Maria

Pietro De Maria is an Italian pianist born in Venice in 1967, who began studying piano with Giorgio Vianello and graduated under Gino Gorini at the Venice Conservatory, later earning the Premier Prix de Virtuosité with highest honors from the Geneva Conservatory under Maria Tipo in 1988. A prodigy, he won first prize at the Alfred Cortot International Piano Competition in Milan at age 13, followed by major awards including the Géza Anda Competition in Zurich (1994) and others. Renowned for his vast repertoire from Bach to Ligeti, he is the first Italian to perform all of Chopin's piano works in public concerts and has recorded extensively for Decca and Dynamic; he teaches at institutions like Mozarteum University in Salzburg.
