Robert Francis

Robert Francis (August 12, 1901 – July 13, 1987) was an American poet who lived most of his life in Amherst, Massachusetts, where he resided in a small house he called 'Fort Juniper' [1][4]. He studied at Harvard University, won the Academy of American Poets award for lifetime achievement, and was influenced by Robert Frost, whom he called 'the greatest of all the great neglected poets' [4][6]. Francis published nine volumes of poetry, a novel, essays, and an autobiography, with his complete works collected in Collected Poems: 1936-1976 [4].
