Sankar K. Pal

Sankar K. Pal is a distinguished computer scientist and former Director of the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata, renowned for his pioneering work in machine intelligence, fuzzy neural networks, and soft computing. He founded ISI's Machine Intelligence Unit and the Center for Soft Computing Research, and has co-authored over 21 books and 500 research publications in pattern recognition and machine learning. Pal is a recipient of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize and the Padma Shri in Science and Engineering.
