Sir Alexander Ogston

Sir Alexander Ogston was a Scottish surgeon and bacteriologist who discovered Staphylococcus aureus in 1881, a breakthrough that helped establish the bacterial cause of wound infections. He also served as a surgeon in the Boer War and World War I and was a professor at the University of Aberdeen.
